Family: Picidae

Piculus chrysochloros;
Golden-green Woodpecker;
Pica-pau-dourado-escuro.

Piculus chrysochloros VIEILLOT 1818

According to Hellmayr 1929 and also Pinto and Camargo 1961, the local race is the nominate P. c. chrysochloros. The range extends from northeastern Brazil to Paraguay and northern Argentina (Hellmayr 1929).

Clements 2007 states that the Northeast has its own race, namely P. c. paraensis. Maybe, this is a lapse?
