Turdus figulus LICHTENSTEIN 1823

The local race is the nominal F. f. figulus. Range: eastern Brazil, and "spreading southwards in recent decades" (Ridgely and Tudor 1994).

Figure 3. Picture taken at close range (3-4 m), from a hide. This individual has been foraging in mud.

The color of the crown of the local subspecies F. f. figulus is brown. I have also seen birds which apparently had a darker crown. This impression could be due to iridescence, or to real interinidividual differences (juveniles?).
