Among the natural enemies of the Striated Heron are raptors. Here are the remains of an individual which was killed by two caracaras (Caracara plancus). I watched from my hide how the caracaras attacked the heron who was fishing in the reservoir. They caught and killed it effortless, and carried part of the carcass away.
